Zone 13 has been and will be busy in the upcoming months. We had our December
social at a local brewery with 18 members in attendance. We are getting ready to send
out our yearly $1000 scholarship information to graduating seniors in Erie and Niagara
counties who are accepted into a four year nursing program.On February 28th we will be
participating in the local Coldest of the Year Walk for a Cause. Money raised supports
families in need and our homeless. March 27th we will be attending the Buffalo Sabres
NHL nurse’s recognition game. We are also in the preliminary planning stages for our
first ever member’s family social event for the end of the school year. We had an
excellent presentation on Heads Up- Concussion given by the Brain Injury Association
in January. They will do zoom meetings or in person for your groups and have multiple
presenters across the state.
I am currently working on preparing letters to be sent to all our superintendents and our
county executives notifying them of national school nurse day and asking them to
please recognize our amazing peers.
Our zones upcoming meetings and speakers are as follows:
February 10th – Kids Escaping Drugs (our area youth addiction, inpatient/outpatient
treatment facility.)
March 9th – speaker to be announced
April 21 – Neurofibromatosis presentation and dinner
Zone 13 includes counties in Western New York. We have monthly virtual meetings and try to have in person gatherings a few times a year.
