A New School Year Begins: Reflecting on a Wonderful Year and Looking Ahead
Dear Zone 4 Members,
As we welcome the 2026–2027 school year, we hope you enjoyed a restful and
rejuvenating summer. We are excited to begin another year of learning, collaboration,
and advocacy with our colleagues throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties.
As we look ahead, we’d like to reflect on how beautifully the 2025–2026 school year
concluded with our National School Nurse Day Celebration in May.
Our annual School Nurse Day Dinner was held on May 6 at Bistro on the Green at
Somers National Golf Club, where 40 school nurses gathered for an evening of
appreciation, friendship, and professional fellowship.
The event was sponsored by Monte Nido who presented a lecture on Recognizing
Eating Disorders.
It was truly inspiring to come together to celebrate the important work school nurses do every day to
support the health, safety, and well-being of the students and families we serve.
On School Nurse Day, we shared this message with our members:
“Happy School Nurse Day! We want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank
all of you for the work you do every day in school health services across our
communities. The role of the school nurse continues to evolve, and the care, clinical
judgment, and advocacy you bring to students and families is truly essential. It is always
energizing to be part of a professional community that shares such a strong
commitment to student health and well-being.”
As a small token of our gratitude, each attendee received a gift in appreciation of their
dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to school nursing.
The evening was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Zone 4 community and the
value of coming together to celebrate our profession.
Looking Ahead
We are excited for another year of connecting with our members! The
Westchester/Putnam NYS Association of School Nurses (Zone 4) is planning four
meetings during the 2026–2027 school year. These meetings will offer opportunities for
professional development, networking, updates on school health practice and
legislation, and the exchange of ideas that strengthen our work and support student
success.
Thank you for all that you do each day on behalf of the children and families in our
schools. We wish everyone a healthy, successful, and rewarding school year and look
forward to seeing you at our upcoming Zone 4 meetings!
