President’s Message
Happy New Year!
As this new year begins, we enter it with uncertainty. With the high COVID-19 positivity rates throughout New York, NYSASN has decided not to move forward with our April 2022 Annual Conference (which was postponed in November). We have no future date at this time as we do not feel it would be prudent to plan ahead while the pandemic brings new waves of challenges and moment to moment changes in COVID-19 guidelines. Once we enter an endemic phase, we can plan accordingly.
NYSASN supports you in your commitment to School Nursing and realizes the additional strain COVID-19 has brought upon you in caring for your students.
While I did not expect my first message to our membership would be sharing disappointing news (I truly feel that NYSASN’s annual conferences offer so much more than educational opportunities), I recognize that 2022 has not started off the way we hoped and we cannot forge ahead in good conscience with the current climate.
I wish you all well as we begin 2022. Stay safe, be kind to yourself and breathe. When you feel like throwing in the towel, remember the strength that lies within you and call upon one another for support. You are truly a blessing to your students and school community.
With respect and gratitude,
Gerri
