New Membership Registration and Renewal Process

At our recent annual membership meeting in Latham, our members voted to unify with the National Association of School Nurses. We feel this decision will be a pathway to increasing our membership along with givingNew York State school nurses a voice on the national level. The larger our membership numbers, the louder, stronger and more powerful voice we have.

I am sure many of you have questions about membership renewal. The current membership list will be shared with NASN on December 15, 2019. The list will be analyzed and the membership data will be segmented into three groups:

1. Members of both organizations (Members will be assigned the latest expiration date and will renew at the unified dues rate going forward).
2. Members with a current NYSASN Membership Only
3. Members with a current NASN Membership Only

Members will retain their membership expiration dates.

Those with expiration dates within 6 months will be asked to renew at the unified rate.

Those with an expiration date in 6 months or more will be billed for the unpaid dues amount (NYSASN portion or NASN portion).

The categories of membership and annual dues are as follows:

Active Member – $160.00
Associate Member – $160.00
Students – $75.00
Retired – $75.00

I encourage you to take a few moments to review the benefits of unification so you will be prepared to take full advantage of the opportunities and resources that will be available to you.

I am confident that together we will continue to keep our mission statement in mind and together we will build a stronger organization that will continue to support and meet the needs of school nurses throughout our great state of New York.
