NYS Center for School Health has created sample guidance regarding management of conjunctivitis in the school setting and the differences between viral and bacterial illness. The Guidance utilizes AAP and CDC guidance in reviewing best practices in prevention and treatment, and highlights that viruses cause many cases, and antibiotics are not effective or indicated as treatment.
