Earn A Free AED For Your School!
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death on school campuses and #1 killer of student athletes. School nurses are on the front lines of student health and are critical to a school’s readiness to respond to a cardiac emergency. Parent Heart Watch and the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation support making schools heart safe. To celebrate Heart Month, Get Charged Up New York! is a program that promotes cardiac preparedness through the installation of AEDs and implementation of Cardiac Emergency Response Plans. School nurses in Rockland, Orange, Schoharie, Delaware, Greene, Sullivan, Dutchess, Columbia, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties can now apply by February 28 to earn a free AED for their school by participating in Get Charged Up New York! Applicants will be notified in March if they have been accepted to the program. 10 AEDs with an optional wall cabinet or waterproof pelican case will be awarded by CPR/AED Awareness Week in early June after program goals are achieved at participating schools. Please help us protect young hearts and apply now!
