April 2018

Dear School Nurses:

I was contacted by the Development and Communication Manager of Parent Heart Watch, Maureen Legg. She has asked me to share an opportunity for schools to receive a free AED.

Parent Heart Watch is the only national voice solely dedicated to SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) prevention in youth. We have amazing member foundations across the country who run life-saving community programs in nearly every state. One of our members in New York, the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation  would like to coordinate a local Get Charged Up! for New York nurses in schools in Long Island, The Bronx, Queens and Westchester county.

Get Charged Up! is a program that promotes cardiac preparedness through the installation of AEDs and implementation of Cardiac Emergency Response Plans. School nurses in Long Island, The Bronx, Queens and Westchester county can now apply by May 4 to earn a free AED for their school by participating in Get Charged Up! Applicants will be notified in early May if they have been accepted to the program. 10 Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AEDs with wall cabinet will be awarded this October during Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month after program goals are achieved at participating schools. Please help us protect young hearts

You can apply by clicking the hyperlink above, which will bring you to a Survey Monkey. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you for all you do for the children of NYS.
